The details of this emotion
This great festival originated in the 19th century, in commemoration of the Napoleonic occupation of San Sebastian during the War of Independence.
On January 20 of each year, the inhabitants and members of the gastronomic societies of San Sebastian gather to «mock» the Napoleonic soldiers occupying the city who marched in formation, touching the drums of the water carriers, they responded by striking the barrels intended to remove water from the sources.
Today, these adult Tamborradas present two groups, one with drums dressed in Napoleonic costumes and the other dressed as cook and water salesman with barrels.
Erronda invites you to participate in these great cultural and gastronomic festivities in the heart of a gastronomic association of San Sebastián and to attend the opening of the Tamborrada from the top of a private balcony overlooking the Plaza de la Constitución. During 24 hours, you will experience one of the most traditional events in the Basque Country.
